The Red River Empty The Red River

Post  pamelanadzan Sun Mar 29, 2009 3:42 pm

People of Fargo, N.D. are spending time at churches praying to be spared the Red Rivers wrath, reports the Associated Press writers. People gathered after a week of sandbagging and helping neighbors to pray that the levees would hold the water back. They sang songs of hope and Rev. Bob Ona, pastor of the First Assembly of God declared “At a time like this we need to call on God’s providential assistance.” The Red River is slowly retreating but is facing a storm which could bring up to six inches of snow and strong gusts of wind. Other churches in the community, such as Assemblies of God and Triumph Lutheran Bretheran Church, have come together to accommodate people who have had their services canceled because of the flood. The services are shorter and not extravagant but are bringing many people together. It is awful what people go through when there is a natural disaster like this, but it is awesome to see when a community comes together to help their fellow man and when churches of different religions can worship God together. They all are there for one reason and that is that they know their need to be saved from this impending disaster. I think that with the economy being the way it is and with all of these natural disasters taking place we are going to see this more and more. When the 911 tragedy happened people turned to God and became closer to one another, because there is no one on earth that can save us in such situations.
