Scientists have found what they believe to be a fault line that is capable of triggering a magnitude 7 earthquake. It also makes it more dangerous that the epicenter is near a major natural gas pipeline. I also thought it was very interesting that the fault line is running under Mississippi River. Its also just amazing that an earthquake happening in Arkansas can also effect the other states surrounding, what a powerful force. Arkansas has always been a state where earthquakes happen often, hundreds of earthquakes occur each and every year. During the winter of 1811-12 three earthquakes with magnitudes of 8 struck Arkansas. People were arguing in the comments that they think such a catastrophic force can only be explained as an act of God to punish that area for their sins, which I think is just silly. Reading articles like this just make me very glad I live in an area where I don't have to worry about earthquakes, at least I think I don't have to worry.

First of all I agree with you that I love living in an area where there are no earthquakes. I would not want to worry about that all the time. Another part I agree with you on is the fault line under the Mississippi River. I never knew there was a fault line right there. That is a very dangerous place for one too. An earthquake along that fault line would cause problems all along the Mississippi River. The fault line by the natural gas line could cause major problems. If there were an earthquake there I can’t even imagine how much damage could be caused. Good article.
