Mona Ramouni, a 28 year old proofreader of Braille text, is working with and hoping to bring home a new guide animal. Ms. Ramouni lives in Dearborne Michigan and has relied on her family to help her around the busy Detroit suburb for years and the opportunity to have a guide animal is very precious to her. The problem for her is that many practicing Muslims do not approve of having a dog in the home. The answer, a miniature horse. A miniature horse can live to be about 30 years old which is longer that the life span of most dogs, so this would be a long term committment. Ms. Ramouni has paid for the training of her former showhorse 3-year old Mexicali Rose or "Cali" for short, out of her own savings. She is looking forward to a long relationship with the 2 1/2 foot high horse.
